One of the most important elements of the RCIA process is the role of the "companion.”
A companion is a practicing Catholic who provides a supportive presence to someone preparing to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The companion does not have to teach; they simply make the commitment to attend the RCIA learning sessions and liturgical celebrations. The only requirement is faith and a welcoming attitude.
