Building up the Body of Christ with welcoming arms, loving hearts and joyful worship.
The character and beauty of the worship space should foster good liturgy and create an awareness of the holiness of our celebration. It should announce and reflect the liturgical season and lead to a deeper experience of the mystery. Our surroundings give a sense of hospitality and inspire vibrant, engaging prayer. The visual arts serve to enhance the environment and liturgical action.
We beautify our church building using God’s natural creation to provide an environment that reflects the liturgical seasons throughout the church year. We use such things as natural plants and flowers, fabric and other enhancements of quality beauty and appropriateness to lift our hearts and minds to God in the liturgy. Imagery, vestments and other liturgical symbols exist in the permanent worship environment.
“no human art form can contain or exhaust the mystery of God’s love, but all art forms can be used to praise God in the liturgical assembly.” From Environment and Art in Catholic Worship #7
The Environment and Art ministry consists of persons gifted with design, sewing, floral arranging, shopping, building, carpentry or electrical skills. Anyone is welcome who is willing to do a small task or be part of a seasonal team; one who values an inviting, prayerful and tasteful space that speaks of care and effort in the service of the Lord.
There are many jobs that require no specific talent. If you enjoy decorating and desire to learn more about the visual arts and how they serve the liturgy, we can use your help.
The time commitment varies as to the season. Meetings are not regularly scheduled; however, the team’s time commitment is determined by the liturgical seasons and the task you are gifted for and willing to do. Extra people are needed on a temporary basis for the major seasons of Advent, Lent, Christmastime and Eastertime.

We welcome anyone who would like to make new friends and help to make our church a warm and inviting environment!
