Building a Bridge of Friendship and Faith with St. Aloysius
The Sharing Parish Ministry allows members of St. Hubert to help our sharing parish, St. Aloysius, in spiritual and financial ways. It helps to build a bridge of friendship and faith between the parishes of St. Hubert and St. Aloysius.
This ministry has been in existence since 1976, and during that time the ministry has grown from food drives to include the Wishing Tree gifts for families in difficult financial circumstances at Christmastime, an annual picnic, and an exchange of pastors for one Sunday each year.
This ministry was developed to broaden the perspective of parishioners, so that they might realize that the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church is actively working to help those in need, not only in missionary areas, but right here in a nearby metropolitan area.
Ministry activities
During the course of the year, the Sharing Parish Ministry conducts the following events:
- Thanksgiving Food Drive
- Wishing Tree Christmas Gifts
- Potluck Picnic at St. Hubert Parish
- Annual Pulpit Exchange, where the pastors celebrate Mass at their Sharing Parish
- Attending Mass at St. Al’s when they have special theme Masses
How Can I Help?
Everyone is welcome to join this ministry. The time commitment is event-based, meaning that individuals help with the picnic at St. Hubert in July, our Thanksgiving food drive, and the Wishing Tree event in December. Drivers are also needed to help deliver food and gifts to St. Aloysius around the holidays.
The key attribute one needs for this ministry is a willingness to share some time with our brothers and sisters at St. Aloysius Parish in Chicago. The Sharing Parish Ministry seeks individuals who have Christian joy and vitality, who want to share their faith and experiences with others, and who are willing to listen to the needs of others and become involved in meeting those needs.
