Sharing Parishes

Building a Bridge of Friendship and Faith with St. Aloysius

The Parish Sharing ministry allows members of St. Hubert’s to help our sharing parish in spiritual and financial ways.

Sharing Parishes Ministry

The Parish Sharing or Twin Parishes ministry is important because it helps build a bridge of friendship and faith between the parishes of St. Hubert and St. Aloysius. This parish ministry has been in existence since 1976, and during that time the ministry has grown from monthly food drives to the Wishing Tree for families in difficult financial circumstances at Christmastime, an annual picnic, and an exchange of pastors for one Sunday each year. One of the reasons why St. Hubert established this ministry was to broaden the perspective of parishioners, i.e., to realize that the needs of the one holy catholic church is not just in missionary areas, but right here in a nearby metropolitan area. The Parish Sharing ministry allows members of St. Hubert’s to help our sharing parish in spiritual and financial ways.

Ministry activities

During the course of the year, the sharing parishes ministry conducts the following events:

  • Easter and Thanksgiving food drives
  • Potluck picnic at Busse Woods
  • Annual pulpit exchange where the pastors visit the sharing parish
  • International food fair at St. Al’s
  • Attending Mass at St. Al’s when they have special theme masses

How Can I Help?

Individuals are encouraged to join this ministry. The key attribute one needs for this ministry is a willingness to share some time with the brothers and sisters of St. Aloysius Parish in Chicago. The time commitment is event-based, meaning that individuals help with the monthly food drive and the picnic in July, as well as coordinate the Wishing Tree event in December. The sharing parishes ministry seeks individuals who have Christian joy and vitality, who want to share their faith and experiences with others, and who are willing to listen to the needs of others and become involved in meeting those needs.
