New Beginnings Ministry
New Beginnings is a self-help group that supports individuals who are experiencing difficulties related to separation, divorce,
death or loss of a significant relationship. New Beginnings is open to people of
all ages and faiths. Its focus is to provide an atmosphere where people feel
safe in social situations. The ministry welcomes people who are seeking personal
recovery and growth after experiencing significant losses in their lives. To
ensure a safe atmosphere, New Beginnings stresses confidentiality. It is
important that all members feel free to share their feelings, confident that
they are in a safe environment.
Ministry Goals
New Beginnings helps people to realize that they are not alone in their struggles. It is a ministry that builds self-esteem by helping
individuals find new friends, learn forgiveness, acquire acceptance, and learn
how to feel loved and live successfully. Individuals share coping skills,
discover that separations or divorce is a process and so is rebuilding and
recovery.
Ministry Activities
New Beginnings meets each Monday evening from 7:15-9:15 p.m. During this time, upcoming social activities are discussed and planned.
Details of these activities are available on the Ministry’s monthly calendar. Attending Monday meetings is an excellent way to provide input
and make new friends in a safe and friendly environment. The Ministry sponsors
guest speakers and discussions on all types of relationships. The Ministry also
holds dances, bowling parties, picnics and field trips, as well as dinning out
events and house parties. In addition, it encourages worship and socialization
with an Easter Liturgy and dinner, Thanksgiving Liturgy and dinner, and
Christmas Liturgy and dinner. Helping Hands is a special part of the New
Beginnings Ministry designed to aid those individuals who either are sick, in a
crisis or lost a loved one. New Beginnings offers support to these individuals.
Volunteer Opportunities
The best way to know New Beginnings is by volunteering. Because the group’s activities are created and implemented by its members,
volunteers are always welcome. In addition, the ministry has a library for
self-help information. The library is available free-of-charge to all members at
the Monday evening meeting.
