Mission

The St. Hubert Jobs & Networking Ministry is a fellowship of men and women with a common desire to become employed or seek career advancement through a Christian forum.

There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions.

The mission of this ministry is to provide a Christian community for job seekers. Christian beliefs and fellowship will govern the ministry’s meeting, actions and processes. These processes will include worship, practical job-finding methods, tools and classical networking with others to gain insight into individually targeted career pursuits and methods for overcoming the barriers inherent in the job market. Resources such as spiritual strengthening, career guidance, Internet resources and video presentations will be made available to enhance our probability of success. There will be personal need referral information for family need beyond that satisfied by the career materials to direct those in need to trained and skilled assistance.

Our primary purpose is to prepare the attendee to face the challenges of a new job search and to shorten the time of unemployment, underemployment or alternative-employment connection.

Vision/Mission

The Saint Hubert's Job and Networking Ministry was formed to assist people within our expanded community in their desire to become re-employed, better employed or those simply seeking a change in their career.

We are men and women who are looking for support, guidance, and assistance, in our job search within Christian Fellowship and community.  Therefore Christian beliefs and fellowship will guide our Ministry, our meetings, our processes and our actions.  We will provide practical job finding assistants and aids.  These will include tools, materials, methodology and technique along with time to network with others to gain insight into targeted companies and industries.  In addition, the Ministry will provide opportunities to discuss barriers inherent in the job search, options or solutions to career issues, and individualized communications.  Resources such as spiritual strengthening, career guidance, Internet resources, presentations and helpful materials will be available at each meeting.

Skilled assistance referrals can also be found through this Ministry for those needing personal help outside of the job search environment.

Our primary purpose is to prepare the attendee to face the challenges of a new job search and to shorten the time of unemployment or alternative-employment connection.

Sample Meeting Topic Handouts

"Communicating to the Home-front"

It's important that we communicate at home to keep our spouse, significant other and our families apprised of our actions, activities and accomplishments in our job search.  This helpful form will keep your job search on track and help you to communicate and enlist the support of your loved ones.

"The Elevator Speech"

Learning how and what to say to make that first strong impression is essential to networking and introducing yourself and your abilities to others in a concise and dynamic conversational presentation.

"Interview Questions"

Learn some of the typical questions asked in an interview so that you can rehearse the answers showing your best attributes, talents and skills.

"Questions to Ask in an Interview"

An interview is a two way street. At the end of the interview, candidates are frequently given the opportunity to ask questions. This handout lists some of the questions you can ask that will provide you greater insight into the job, company and industry you are considering.

"Establishing a Financial Timeline"

In a job search, your personal finances have a role to play in how long you can manage before your cash flow becomes critical. Planning your finances therefore is a crucial step in keeping your job search campaign on track and your personal life on track at the same time.

"Latest on Resume Career Objectives"

Some people still hold to using a career objective on their resume. This handout will provide the latest thinking on this and alternatives being used today in the highly competitive search for a new position.

"Keys To Networking"

What does it take to network effectively? It starts with an all encompassing list of contacts. This handout helps to determine who to place on your list before you begin the process of contacting and networking your way to that next position.

"Cover letters"

Creating an effective cover letter is as important as making a great first impression. Learn what to do, examples of sentences for specific purposes and suggestions on better cover letter writing.

"Employment Applications"

Whether you are applying for a hourly job or a senior executive, you are faced with the inevitable request for filling out an employment application. Learn how to approach this request and supply dynamic responses to ordinarily mundane questions.

Note: In addition, we have a list of other career networking groups, web sites and personal help hot lines.
