Children’s Ministry of Initiation
(CMI)
Preparing Children for their Faith Journey CMI seeks to strengthen family
relationships, build connections into the parish life at St. Hubert, and enhance
family participation in the Sunday Liturgy.
Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) is a component of the Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). CMI is a spiritual journey in faith for
children and their parents. Together families discover what it means to be a
follower of Christ. Children of catechetical age (seven years of age and older)
are prepared to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and
Reconciliation.
CMI’s Mission
The mission of CMI is to guide children in their faith journey and to prepare
them to receive the sacraments. This journey of faith is accomplished through
- Scripture: the stories of God’s people.
- Teaching: what Catholics believe.
- Prayer: how we communicate with God.
- Liturgy: how the community worships.
- Mission: how we live out what we believe. CMI helps to strengthen family
relationships by encouraging the entire family to enter the process. CMI will
enhance family participation in Sunday Liturgy and enable families to build
relationships within the parish life of St. Hubert.
Time and Talents
CMI also provides a place where active members of the faith community can
share their faith journey, gifts and talents with others. CMI is in need of
experienced catechists or people who have participated in the RCIA process and
are now willing to serve as catechists. Ministers should feel comfortable
working with adults, children and families. CMI also needs sponsor families or
individuals who are willing to support a family on this faith journey. CMI meets
each Sunday morning from October to June. This ministry continually provides
training and information.
