Art & Environment
Beautifying our church & giving glory to God!
We welcome anyone who would like to make new friends and help to make
our church a warm and inviting environment!
What is Our Mission?
The character and beauty of the worship space should foster
devotion and create an awareness of the holiness of the ministry celebrated
there. It should lead to a deeper worship of our God by focusing on the
beautiful and reflecting the liturgical seasons. It speaks both of mystery and
hospitality, creating a sense of feeling at home while providing a setting for
dynamic worship. The arts can definitely enhance the celebration and inspire the
assembly in prayer.
What We Do
We beautify our church using God’s own creations to create
an environment that reflects the themes of the liturgical seasons. We use such
things as plants and flowers to give visual emphasis to the seasons and feasts
of the Church year. We also use altar cloths, vestment, candles and images to
enhance the worship space.
Any Skills Needed?
The ministry consists of persons gifted with design,
building or carpentry abilities, sewing, floral arranging, electrical or simply
a willingness to participate and work so that the Sanctuary always is as
inviting as possible and the environment itself speaks of care and effort in the
service of the Lord. There are many jobs that require no specific talent, just
the will to try. If you enjoy decorating and working with plants and other
materials we can use your help.
Time Commitment
The time commitment varies as to the season. Meetings are
not regularly scheduled, however, members are contacted prior to the change of
seasons or feast days to assist in making the necessary changes to the
environment. Extra people are needed on a temporary basis for the seasons of
Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.
